Former UFC star Josh Thomson seems to be a fan of Josh Hokit’s plans after Tom Aspinall made a huge announcement on Monday.
Aspinall vacated his heavyweight title after injuring his right eye. The British star had not fought since UFC 321 after suffering injuries due to eye pokes from Ciryl Gane.
Hokit, who is undefeated in his MMA career, shared his interesting plan for the heavyweight division, and Thomson backed the same:

Hokit had earlier posted that he wanted to fight Gane, potentially for the heavyweight title. He also was willing to give Alex Pereira a shot at the gold should the Brazilian win one heavyweight fight.
Hokit also promised to become the most active champion in the company from 2027:
“The fans deserve Me vs Gane. I’ll give Ciryl what he has coming. If Alex can win 1 fight in my weight class, I’ll give it to him too, early ‘27. I’ll be the most active champ in the company.”
Gane became the interim champion after beating Pereira at UFC Freedom 250. The Frenchman’s eye pokes effectively ended Aspinall’s reign as the champion, and even Pereira complained about foul shots from ‘Bon Gamin’ in their title fight.
Josh Hokit doesn’t believe Alex Pereira deserves a title shot
Alex Pereira recently came out and claimed that a rematch with Ciryl Gane is on the table. While the UFC has not confirmed any such discussions, the Brazilian believes a rematch would guarantee a third UFC title for him.
This message came a few days before Tom Aspinall’s announcement, and if the pair are to fight, it would be for the heavyweight title.
However, Josh Hokit doesn’t believe that the Brazilian deserves a crack at gold. He also explained that Ilia Topuria shouldn’t get a title shot too since he was also comprehensively beaten at UFC Freedom 250:
“Growing up, I loved the @ufc & all of its fighters. So it gives me great pleasure to use my platform today to speak the truth. Neither Ilia Topuria nor Alex Pereira deserve a fu*king title shot in their next fight. They both got handily destroyed. Make them earn it and fight their way back like everyone else. Sincerely, The Fans.”
