Full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and Cole Palmer have earned recalls to the England squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Spain, Czech Republic and Croatia starting next week.
Apart from the aforementioned duo, Liverpool striker Rio Ngumoha, Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, Newcastle United full-back Lewis Hall and Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite are also back in the squad after missing out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, as per The Athletic.

It’s Alexander-Arnold’s first call-up to the Three Lions squad in 15 months, having started twice in La Liga for Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid. Ngumoha, meanwhile, made his senior international debut in a friendly against New Zealand in June but wasn’t included by Tuchel in the World Cup squad.
Calvert-Lewin played during the March international break but wasn’t a part of the World Cup squad, while Scott is set to feature under Tuchel for the first time. Palmer, meanwhile, has forced his way into the squad following his strong start to the 2026-27 campaign with Chelsea.
The Three Lions open their Nations League campaign on September 26 against reigning European and world champions Spain at home. Three days later, they visit the Czech Republic. On October 3, they play Croatia before hosting the Czech Republic three days later.

England are coming off a successful campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Even though they couldn’t end their 60-year wait for a second title, they recorded their best-ever finish since their triumphant campaign in 1966.
Thomas Tuchel’s side commenced their campaign with a 4-2 win over 2018 finalists Croatia before drawing goalless with Ghana. They beat Panama 2-0 to qualify for the knockouts as group winners.
A 2-1 victory over DR Congo was followed by a 3-2 victory at co-hosts Mexico before the Three Lions beat Norway 2-1 in extra time to reach the semis for the second time in three appearances.
They led holders Argentina by a goal with five minutes left before conceding twice late on. Tuchel’s side, though, recovered to beat France 6-4 in the third-place play-off, with captain Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham ending the campaign with seven goals each.
