No family name is more synonymous with public service in the United States than the Kennedys. The Kennedy family dedicates itself to serving the public, which, whether he realizes it or not, is why Donald Trump is so obsessed with attaching his name to, or destroying, the Kennedy Center.
Trump has turned the presidency into an institution that serves him. Trump doesn’t believe that he has a responsibility to serve the public. Instead, Trump demands that he be placed above everyone else and served like a king.

The president’s job is not to attach his name to buildings or threaten to destroy the Kennedy Center. Trump’s job is to serve the American people, but Donald Trump has no interest in doing that job.
Kerry Kennedy was interviewed on MS NOW by Peter Alexander who asked, “ What does President Trump miss about what it means to be a leader as we witness his efforts related to The Kennedy Center?”
Kennedy answered:
My uncle really asked people to serve our country. He believed that government was there to help those who are most in need, and to bring freedom to the widest possible number of people in our country and around the world, and I don’t think that’s what President Trump is all about.
He wants to put his name on this building. He’s trying to put it on the building of the United States Institute of Peace. And this is not service to the people. We’re in a place in our country now where people can’t afford gas, they can’t afford food, they can’t afford healthcare, they can’t afford childcare. He, President Trump, please focus on your job and leave the arts alone.

Kerry Kennedy also discussed Trump’s claims about the Kennedy Center’s financial situation.
