Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly has opened up on how teammate Max Dowman carries himself off the pitch. The 16-year-old talent has been the talk of the town since making his senior debut for the Gunners last season.
After scoring against Everton back in March, Dowman became the youngest ever goalscorer for Arsenal, surpassing the record held by Cesc Fabregas. The attacker also won a penalty off the bench on his Premier League debut last season, when Arsenal beat Leeds United 5-0 at the Emirates.

Dowman has yet to feature in the Premier League this term, but scored twice in his first appearance of the ongoing season on Tuesday as Arsenal beat Ipswich Town in their Carabao Cup third round clash.
In the wake of the performance from Dowman, Lewis-Skelly, who is also another product of the Arsenal academy, opened up on how the youngster behaves outside the football pitch. The England international revealed that Dowman is always open to suggestions and being ‘helped’ or coached by someone who has more experience.
Lewis-Skelly also described Dowman as a ‘nice boy’, who is amazing as a person. The midfielder also admitted that he tries to help Dowman whenever he can. Lewis-Skelly told Sky Sports:
“Max is someone that wants to be helped, wants to be coached. So if someone is willing to take on information, of course I can help.
“And Max is an amazing person first and foremost before the football, before everything. He’s just a nice boy. So I would love to help him out and I know that I do help him out.”
Dowman may have to wait a little longer to make his first Premier League start for Arsenal this season. The Gunners are in sublime form and will not be in action for three weeks during the international break, after they face Brighton tonight (Saturday).
Mikel Arteta comments about Arsenal sending Dowman on loan
There is no doubt that a young player like Dowman needs to play regularly to fulfill his bright potential. Arsenal are chasing back-to-back Premier League triumphs and have ambitions in the Champions League as well.
As such, it remains to be seen if he can become a regular feature in the first team at the Emirates this season. Arteta admitted that the club did not listen to any potential loan possibilities for Dowman because they wanted him to stay.
However, the Spaniard revealed the club will evaluate the next six months and make a decision on a potential loan in January. Arteta told reporters:
“We haven’t really listened to any of the possibilities because we were clear that we want to have him in the squad, that we wanted him to be part of the pre-season.
“I’m going to start to see where we are from there. We will evaluate every six months where we are, what is the best thing for him to do and from there make the right decisions.
“It will depend on a lot of factors: what he needs, where the team is as well, the availability that we have in the squad, the amount of minutes that he’s playing, the quality he’s delivering when he’s got those minutes.
“We have to be open, but now the focus is to be here and impact the team.”
Dowman has played twice in Premier League 2 for the U21 team this season.
