Barcelona have announced that centre-back Andreas Christensen is set for a spell on the sidelines after he picked up an injury against Sevilla. The Denmark international started for La Blaugrana as they came from behind to win 3-1 in LaLiga.
According to the statement from Barcelona, Christensen is set to spend a couple of weeks on the sidelines as a result of his injury. He has been confirmed to have sustained an injury to the rectus femoris muscle of his left thigh after tests were conducted.

Former Chelsea star Andreas Christensen made his second start in the space of a week for Hansi Flick’s side, partnering Pau Cubarsi at the heart of the backline for the Spanish giants. He played for 59 minutes and provided an assist for his side’s first goal before he had to come off, with Gerard Martin taking his place on the pitch.
Christensen looked disappointed as he took his place on the bench following his substitution, identifying his struggles with injuries in recent seasons. He managed just 18 appearances in the 2025-26 season and only six appearances in the season before that. He has played seven times for them this season and will hope for a swift return to action for the club.
Barcelona maintain 100% record with win over Sevilla
Barcelona kept up their perfect start to the 2026-27 season with a 3-1 win over Sevilla at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. La Blaugrana moved six points clear at the summit of the standings after another scintillating attacking display.
Sevilla took a shock lead after 19 minutes, as France international Youssouf Fofana scored his first goal for the Spanish outfit. Their lead lasted just three minutes before an equaliser arrived via the boot of in-form Brazil international Raphinha. He received a pass from Andreas Christensen before displaying impressive calmness to roll the ball away from a defender before tucking it home.
The captain of Barcelona scored his second of the evening with his head, guiding home a cross from Lamine Yamal. The 29-year-old completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute with a delightful chip over Odysseas Vlachodimos after Yamal played him in behind.
Raphinha scored his second hat-trick in the space of a week to take his tally in LaLiga to 12 goals and three assists in only seven appearances this season. His side has won all seven of their games so far this season and looks to be on course for a third successive LaLiga title.
