Jadarian Price’s fourth-quarter exit from the Seattle Seahawks’ 31-7 win at the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday looked worse than it turned out to be. What was first labeled a chest injury is actually a shoulder issue, Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald revealed Monday, and he does not expect it to sideline the running back for long.
Price left Sunday’s 31-7 victory over the Cardinals after going down with what the team initially described as a chest ailment. Macdonald cleared up the confusion a day later during his weekly appearance on Seattle Sports radio, telling hosts Brock Huard and Mike Salk that the real issue is Price’s shoulder.
Thanks for the submission!
Macdonald downplayed the severity without getting into specifics.

He called the injury “nothing serious, it doesn’t seem,” describing the diagnosis as “a technical term for somewhere up in your shoulder” while noting the joint itself remains “intact.”

Seattle leaned on Emanuel Wilson once Price went down. Wilson finished with 21 carries for 92 yards against Arizona, giving the Seahawks (2-0) a proven option at running back should Price need extra recovery time. Price had 13 rushes for 52 yards.
They each have 23 carries this season, with Price totaling 104 yards and a touchdown and Wilson 95 yards.
Sam Darnold’s return now in play

Mike Macdonald also addressed the quarterback injury on his roster. Quarterback Sam Darnold has a chance to play against the Washington Commanders (0-2) on Sunday, the coach said Monday.
Darnold suffered a soft-tissue injury to his glute on the Seahawks’ opening possession of their Week 1 win over the New England Patriots, a problem originally called a hip injury before further evaluation showed the hip joint was unaffected. Seattle chose not to place him on injured reserve, which would have required missing at least four games, and Macdonald said the recovery timeline has since moved up “quite drastically.”
Drew Lock made the most of the opportunity. He threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns without an interception in the win over Arizona, pushing his season total to four touchdown passes and no interceptions.
