Major League Volleyball‘s newest team has been cleared for takeoff with the announcement of their name and visual identity.
The Washington, D.C.-based club announced on Thursday, September 17, that they’ll be known as the DC Flight when they hit the court in January 2027. They also launched a primary logo with the team’s name spelled out in silver bevelled lettering and a tapering purple arc, all with a black outline.
The DC Flight identity draws on Washington’s deep ties to the history of air and space travel. The arc of the logo traces the path of a volleyball in play and the athletes who send it there, a symbol of constant momentum for the sport and the club. The wordmark’s sharp angles and forward tilt signal precision and performance. The palette blends red and blue into a rich DC Flight purple that stands for feminine strength, paired with metallic gray for mechanical and physical power.

Along with the primary logo, the Flight also launched a secondary logo with just “DC” and a smaller arc.

Along with the name and logo, the Flight also announced last week they would play their home games at The Anthem, a music venue and auditorium in Washington’s Southwest Waterfront area. Renderings show the court in what would normally be the floor seats for a concert, with fans in bleachers all around — including on the stage, which will also house a large video screen.
The Flight are one of four expansion teams joining MLV in 2027, along with the Minnesota Forge and two as-yet-unnamed franchises in Sacramento and Los Angeles. The Vegas Thrill are also returning to the league from a two-year hiatus, while the San Diego Mojo ceased operations earlier this year.
MLV has not yet released a schedule for the 2027 season. The Dallas Pulse, in their first season, won the 2026 MLV championship with a five-set win over the Omaha Supernovas on their home court at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
