Blew $120k on that factor

Sean Sharaf recently opened up about how he accumulated a massive debt of $600,000 after beating Gable Steveson.

Sharaf and Steveson faced each other in a heavyweight fight at UFC 331 last weekend. Given Steveson’s incredible record and resume as an athlete, many expected him to beat Sharaf handily. However, ‘The Smoke’ pulled off an incredible upset win by knocking out Steveson just 12 seconds into the opening round.

In the aftermath, it came to light that Sharaf was riding on a lot of financial debt thanks to some terrible decision-making on his part. In an interview with ESPN MMA, Sharaf explained how he got into such debt and said:

“I just made a lot of very crazy financial decisions. So, I had a TRX I couldn’t afford. Blew $120k on that thing. I was trying to help my mom sometimes. But more times I actually had borrowed money from her.”

He added:

“I got an advance on my purse from my management so I could have my camp in Vegas… I gambled a lot of money when I first moved to Vegas. I was trying to meet Dana… I don’t have anything in my name. The banks call you every single day… I think I’m getting a financial advisor.” [H/t: Sherdog]

Sean Sharaf addresses Gable Steveson leaving octagon immediately after losing

Sean Sharaf didn’t make much of Gable Steveson leaving the octagon immediately after losing. While fighters traditionally stay on till after the referee formally raises the winner’s hand, Steveson chose to walk out with his team immediately.

During a media scrum, the heavyweight fighter addressed Steveson’s post-fight actions and stated:

“Yeah, I saw him leaving, but I was thinking about this before the fight. I was 4-0, I was undefeated when I had my first loss in the UFC and he just had his first loss. It makes you better. You’re going to take a look back, and you can’t underestimate people. You can’t think you’re untouchable, and you’re just going to run through people.” [H/t: MMA Fighting]
