Triple H reached out to prime star for WWE return

Triple H has often made an effort to bring back wrestlers who previously left WWE. Some of the biggest names to have returned to the Stamford-based promotion are CM Punk, Aleister Black, and many more. A few months ago, the Lone Wolf, Baron Corbin, made his return to the company. He showed up on the SmackDown episode on the 10th of July, 2026.

Recently, on a special video package on the Club WWE subscription service, Baron Corbin opened up about how his return to the Stamford-based promotion came to fruition. He shared that Triple H had reached out to him, asking if he was ready to return to the promotion, and Corbin said he has always been ready.

“I got a text message from Triple H. He was like, ‘I was just curious, would you ever be interested in coming back?’ I text him like, ‘Yeah, man. That’s my home. It always has been.’ Because I had my mind, and I was prepped for like, a ‘worst-case scenario.’ And I got the best-case scenario,” Baron Corbin said.

Corbin also went on to share what the WWE Chief Content Officer wanted his character to be in the Stamford-based promotion.

“Triple H said, ‘Look, I am looking at you to come back and be a monster a**-kicker.’ Because, that’s who I am. Trick [Williams] I think has been on the main roster for 8 months now. And I am going to show him how we do it up here,” Corbin added.

Upon making his return to WWE, Corbin swiftly became a champion.

Baron Corbin captured the United States Championship in the Triple H-led promotion

Baron Corbin had been focusing on the United States Championship ever since returning to WWE. The Lone Wolf went on to become a 2-time US Champion by defeating Trick Williams at SummerSlam.

Corbin held the title for a total of 35 days and then unfortunately lost the championship back to Trick Williams at the latest Sunday Night’s Main Event.
