Sami Zayn nearly lost his mind backstage while discussing his status as WWE Champion. He claimed SmackDown GM Nick Aldis denied Johnny Gargano’s request for a title shot.
However, he secured spots in Money in the Bank qualifiers for both Gargano and Candice LeRae. SmackDown aired footage of Damian Priest attacking R-Truth at the WWE Performance Center earlier this week.

Danhausen nearly cursed Gunther, but The Ring General warned him against doing so. Lash Legend and CM Punk qualified for next month’s Money in the Bank matches. Here’s the rundown of WWE SmackDown from Indianapolis (September 25, 2026).
#6. Baron Corbin came back to WWE for this?
Trick Williams hits a Flapjack right away but wastes time posing. Baron Corbin quickly takes over by shoving Trick into the steel cage. SmackDown cuts to commercial.
The WWE stars exchange blows atop the cage. Corbin prevents Trick from escaping with a superplex. Williams tries to escape via the door, but Corbin grabs him. Corbin then kicks the door into Yachty as he’s standing right next to it.
Trick hits a kick for a near fall. Corbin lands a clothesline and chokeslam. He goes for the cage door, but Yachty slams it into his face. Trick hits a knee but kicks out at two. He goes for another knee, but Corbin shoves him into the cage. He lands Deep Six for a two-count. Trick fights back with three Bookends for the win.
GRADE: C+
#5. Women’s qualifier for WWE Money in the Bank
Lash overpowers the other women early on. Giulia counters with a Guillotine Choke on Legend. Lash gets out via a suplex. Charlotte Flair hits a crossbody and a cannonball on the outside. Giulia hits Flair with a dropkick.
Charlotte climbs to the top rope with Giulia on her back, but Legend powerbombs them both down. Flair tries to roll Giulia up, but the Japanese star lands a series of kicks. Legend comes back in. Flair botches a backcracker on Legend.
She goes to the top, but Giulia lands a suplex. Legend pins Flair but only gets two. Lash tries to lock in a Figure Four but is stopped. The match is filled with a lot of choppy action and botchy exchanges.
The Queen hits a moonsault on both women for a near fall. Flair counters a Lash Extension into the Figure Eight. Giulia breaks it up by kicking Flair in the stomach. She hits her knee and a North Lights Bomb on Charlotte. Lash stops the pin and hits the Lash Extension on Giulia to advance.
GRADE: D
#4. Randy Orton bullies Michael Cole into an interview
Cole just sits there instead of asking a question. He doesn’t know why Orton wants equal time for an interview. The Viper wants Cole to say what Cody Rhodes said when the cameras stopped rolling last week.
Orton says Cody said it off the air because he doesn’t want people to think he’s been compromised. He adds that Cody has changed so many times in 20 years, but he’s stayed the same in WWE.
The Legend Killer says he will be who he needs to be to win title after title. Orton asks Cole if he thinks Cody will kick him like he said he would off the air. After some delay, Cole says he doesn’t think Cody will.
#3. Fatal Influence vs. Paige, Chelsea Green, and Tiffany Stratton
Paige controls the early stages against Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid. Jacy Jayne and Stratton battle off the commercial break. Chelsea and Lainey tag in for their teams.
Green lands some offense, but Lainey kicks her. Paige and Jacy tag in. The Anti-Diva hits a German Suplex and Paige Turner, but Henley breaks up the pin.
Stratton lands a crossbody on Henley and Reid on the outside. Jacy hits a Cannoball while they’re celebrating. Paige goes for a move, but Nikki Bella trips her while the referee’s back is turned. Jacy lands the rolling forearm for the win.
GRADE: C+
#2. Cody Rhodes wants the last word
Cody Rhodes addresses Randy Orton’s “interview” from earlier in the night. He says he had then-WWE Champion CM Punk beat at SummerSlam until Randy Orton cost him the victory.
The American Nightmare says he knows he can beat Sami Zayn, the current WWE Champion. He also thinks The Viper has put him in an unwinnable spot, but he’s the king of unwinnable positions. He’ll kick Orton’s head off his shoulders the next chance he gets, but Orton won’t be the only one.
#1. Three former WWE Champions compete for a spot in Money in the Bank
All three men deliver chops early on. Gunther locks Punk in a Boston Crab, but Balor breaks it up. Gunther lands a loud chop on Balor. Punk goes for Go To Sleep on Balor, but The Prince counters into a combo DDT move on Punk and Gunther.
Balor sends Punk and Gunther to the outside. Punk hoists The Ring General onto his shoulders, but Balor lands a Tope Con Giro on both men. Gunther controls the action after the commercial break. He chokes Finn in the ropes.
Gunther bullies Balor, but it fires him up. Balor hits a Pele Kick. Punk hits an elbow off the top. The Best in the World goes for the GTS on Gunther, but he rakes Punk’s eyes. Punk and Balor lock Gunther in a Boston Crab together.
The Prince breaks the move with a roll-up. He lands a Sling Blade on Punk and goes to the top for Coup de Grace. Gunther pulls him out of the ring during the pin. Punk hits GTS on Balor, but he rolls out.
Gunther hits a dropkick and powerbomb on Punk for a near fall. Punk and Gunther trade counters until Gunther locks in a choke on Punk, but Balor hits Coup de Grace on Gunther’s back. Balor is out of position, allowing Punk to get the pin and win.
