U.S. equities pushed higher Friday, with all eyes still tuned in on the Treasury space and if a possible plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is in play. On the economic calendar, durable goods orders growth stalled in August, better than the decline expected. Moreover, consumer sentiment for September was revised to 48.1 from the initial print of 47.8 and 51.7 in August. Markets continue to watch for any developments around the Strait of Hormuz as the U.S. and Iran talk through a phased plan to reopen the waterway to commercial shipping.
The upcoming week will kick off with September consumer confidence and JOLTS job openings for August releasing on Tuesday. On Wednesday, a slew of data, including ADP nonfarm employment change for September, PCE price index for August, and Q2 GDP numbers, are set to be released. Initial jobless claims numbers alongside S&P Global and ISM PMI numbers are scheduled for Thursday. September nonfarm payrolls and unemployment rate will be released on Friday.
Micron (MU) and Nike (NKE) are among notable firms reporting results in the coming week.
