Guinea and Kenya will battle for three points in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Thursday (October 1st). The game will be played at Stade 28 Septembre.
The home side will be looking to bounce back from the 2-1 defeat they suffered away to South Africa last week. They went into the break behind to Ime Okon’s goal on the half-hour mark. Seydouba Cisse equalized in the 69th minute, but Samukelo Kabini restored Bafana Bafana’s lead with the eventual match-winner in the 77th minute.

Kenya, meanwhile, were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Eritrea. They went behind to Nahom Girmai’s 36th-minute strike and were seemingly on course to lose the game, but Ryan Ogam equalized with three minutes left in regulation time to ensure the spoils were shared.
The draw left the Harambee Stars in third spot in Group D on one point. Guinea are bottom of the standings on zero points.

Guinea are seeking to return to the AFCON, having failed to qualify for the last edition in Morocco last time out. Their quest to achieve this did not get off to the best start, and their recent form does not inspire confidence for the Syli National.
Kenya are co-hosts of the next AFCON and have automatically booked their spot in the tournament. Hence, they are using the games in these qualifiers as preparation for the tournament proper. Benni McCarthy faced a lot of criticism for failing to secure a win in his side’s opening game and will hope to bounce back in this encounter.
