Mauritius and Sri Lanka meet for their second round of international friendlies on Monday at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex in Saint Pierre. The sides met on Friday for the first time as Les Dodos prevailed 3-0 in a comfortable victory over their hapless visitors.
Stephan De Robillard opened the scoring for the home side after 28 minutes from the penalty spot before William Joseph Francois doubled their advantage shortly after.
Thanks for the submission!
Boasting a two-goal cushion at the break, Mauritius were already on their way to a win but Adrien Francois scored a third goal in the 59th minute to add gloss to the scoreline.
Ranked 178th in the world, the African side remained unbeaten in four matches this year and posted their second win in a row.
But despite the encouraging result, Mauritius could make a few changes to their lineup for Monday’s match and give some of their substitutes a chance.
The loss was Sri Lanka’s first of 2026, ending their four-game winning run and witnessing their first defeat since November 2025.
With the 2026 SAFF Championship coming up next month, the Golden Army will be looking to pick up a win in their last friendly before the tournament and build some momentum under their belt.
They have been drawn alongside hosts Bangladesh and Bhutan in Group A.
