Former AEW star Tay Melo requested her release from All Elite Wrestling a few months ago. Her last match in the Jacksonville-based promotion took place in June 2026. In the last months in the company, she and Anna Jay tried to go for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship. Despite multiple tries, the duo couldn’t win the gold. Shortly after, it was announced that she is no longer with the company. Meanwhile, her husband, Sammy Guevara, is still with All Elite Wrestling.

Tay was recently seen with WWE star Karmen Petrovic. The 30-year-old star has been one of the top stars in NXT right now. Despite being healthy, she hasn’t been seen on TV for over a month. During her hiatus, she was seen with Melo.

AEW President Tony Khan on Tay Melo stepping away from pro wrestling

Anna Jay and Tay Melo tried their best to win the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships. Unfortunately, they couldn’t win them despite multiple attempts. In June 2026, rumours of her leaving the Jacksonville-based promotion started to spread.

On a Redemption media call a few months ago, Tony Khan said Melo informed him about her leaving the company after facing Divine Dominion in her last contest. The AEW President claimed that he was appalled to hear her ask for release but eventually granted it.

“Tay has said she wanted to step away from wrestling. She said I love AEW, and I love the people here, but I wanted to step away from AEW, and step away from wrestling. And that’s what she told me…that was weeks ago at Collision after she wrestled against the Divine Dominion. And she came to me after the match, and said I would like a release. And I was taken aback, and we had a very nice talk,” he said.

On the other hand, Tay Melo’s former partner Anna Jay revealed she will be undergoing shoulder injury soon. It remains to be seen if the duo reunites in the ring down the line.
