“Madison Beer is waiting for him. He is in a hurry”: NFL followers mock Justin Herbert for giving “robot answers” after Chargers’ loss

Justin Herbert was at a loss for words on Sunday, and fans could not help but notice it.

Shortly after his Los Angeles Chargers sank to 0-5 after a loss to the Denver Broncos, the quarterback took the podium to address the media. His press conference ultimately lasted just over two minutes, as he kept his responses short and blunt:

And there was much derision towards how he conducted himself:

“Madison Beer is waiting for him. He is in a hurry,” one imagined.

“Literally robot answers,” another described.

“Dudes ready to go motorboat instead of answering this s***,” another snickered.

“He didn’t answer one question 🤨,” one wondered.

“Talk real fast no one will ask questions,” one posited.

“He doesn’t care anymore; he keeps giving the same answers s*** is so sad. He should go be a family man, apply to med school, and be a doctor before his brain turns to mush,” another suggested.

The game against the Broncos marked Herbert’s fifth straight with at least one interception. He was also sacked five times, including the game-ending one from nickelback Ja’Quan McMillian before he could even throw a Hail Mary pass from deep.

Analyst questions whether Justin Herbert can still elevate Chargers’ offense

Many circumstances went against Justin Herbert heading into Sunday.

Injuries shelved his top two wideouts, Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston, from the starting lineup. His offensive line also had to start four rookies for the same reason. Then, in the third quarter, he lost another wideout.

That, on top of his turnovers and sacks, paints a worrying picture of the Chargers’ offense. The Associated Press’ Dan Greenspan wrote:

“Everything is on Herbert, and he looks to be feeling the pressure in ways the Oregon product never has previously. … At 0-5 and with no signs of help on the way, it doesn’t look like things will be getting easier for Herbert any time soon.”

He continued:

“(OC Mike) McDaniel needs to simplify his offense to accommodate the ridiculous number of injuries on that side of the ball. The Chargers can move the ball when things are kept basic, such as Kimani Vidal ripping off a 42-yard touchdown run on a textbook outside zone play, but McDaniel’s insistence on trickery and motion is slowing things down.”

Herbert and the Chargers next visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Kickoff is at 1:25 p.m. PT on CBS.
