Former CNN host Chris Cuomo shared his delusional take on Christians by claiming, “The more Christian a culture is, the more they wanna kill people.”

Cuomo spoke with Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN), following the failed execution of Christa Pike in Tennessee on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

Pike survived and was hospitalized.

After sharing the clip of Burchett, Cuomo stated, “I’ve always found it interesting that the more Christian a culture is, the more they wanna kill people.”

“And that is certainly the case in Tennessee. The governor is now worried because this looks bad, cuz it was ineffective. But you can kill her a much easier way if you want. But are we having the right to debate, the right debate here about like, how do you do it? Is that really the right debate?”

“Or is it whether, you know, for you, if you’re looking at it for Christians, you really think God wants you to have the determination of who lives and who dies? Is that what the best instruction is for our society?”

Burchett responded, “Is 30 years….is 30 years justice? Is it the same person that committed the crime?”

“The last execution was a guy I knew. He went to my high school. He was a friend of my brother’s, and we met, and we went to actually visit him in prison, in Brushy Mountain Prison and in Nashville. I went down on death row when I was a civilian. They wouldn’t allow me as a legislator. But visited him many times. So I’m, I’m very much aware of the back and forth.”

“But I think under some circumstances, heinous crimes, crimes against children, murder, rape of a child, I think it’s very acceptable.”

“But I don’t think 30 years is justice. I think you cause the families to suffer, the innocent families of the victim. And too many times we forget about the victim and the suffering that they occurred.”

“You know, you get— I think she should have one appeal to make sure there wasn’t something screwy, but these constant appeals that go on….”

“And two, here’s what’s going to happen, Chris. You watch. They’re going to come back and say this failed execution caused her to have a mental blockage or some sort of mental issue.”
