Cody Rhodes shockingly snapped on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown. He used a banned maneuver to take out former United States Champion Baron Corbin.

On this week’s WWE SmackDown, The American Nightmare was scheduled to come face-to-face with Randy Orton. However, The Viper was nowhere to be found during the segment. In a shocking moment, Baron Corbin showed up and delivered a promo highlighting The American Nightmare’s failures. He also bragged about his United States Championship win at SummerSlam.

Rhodes and The Lone Wolf were ultimately booked in an impromptu singles match in the main event of WWE SmackDown. Corbin had a solid showing in the hard-hitting contest, but The American Nightmare managed to gain control. Randy Orton interfered in the bout out of nowhere, launching an attack on the two-time Royal Rumble winner.

The American Nightmare was about to hit the Punt Kick on Orton, but The Viper managed to escape, thanks to Baron Corbin. A frustrated Rhodes snapped and took out Corbin with the banned maneuver to close the show. Following the event, the second-generation wrestler’s wife, Brandi Rhodes, reacted to his actions on SmackDown with an X post.

“F around. Find out,” Brandi wrote.

Cody Rhodes rumored to face real-life friend at WrestleMania 43

In July, CM Punk made his first appearance on WWE TV since the RAW after WrestleMania 42. He replaced an injured Cody Rhodes in an Undisputed WWE Championship match against Sami Zayn. The Best in the World went on to defeat Zayn and capture the coveted title.

Rhodes was unhappy about missing the title match. He demanded that Punk defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against him. At SummerSlam, the real-life friends faced off in a championship bout. The Second City Saint defeated The American Nightmare after interference from Randy Orton.

Rhodes and Punk have unfinished business. A recent report by Fightful Select indicated that the duo could square off in a rematch at WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia. The Best in the World is currently embroiled in a rivalry with Kevin Owens on SmackDown. Meanwhile, the second-generation wrestler is focused on exacting revenge on Orton after his loss at Sunday Night’s Main Event.

Fans must stay tuned to find out which superstar emerges victorious if CM Punk and Cody Rhodes go to war on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
