Barcelona gamers undergo main setback forward of PSG conflict within the UEFA Champions League

Barcelona have suffered a major setback ahead of their upcoming UEFA Champions League clash with PSG on Tuesday, with Hansi Flick’s squad reportedly left stranded in Seville overnight due to severe storms battering Catalonia.

Fresh off a dominant 5-2 victory against Real Betis at La Cartuja, the Catalan giants intended to fly straight back home on Saturday night. However, according to Diario Sport (via Barca Universal), severe weather conditions forced airport authorities to ground their flight, derailing preparations for Europe.

Having already boarded their aircraft at Seville airport late into the evening, both the players and the coaching staff were forced to remain onboard as heavy rainfall and adverse conditions severely halted operations at El Prat airport back in Barcelona.

As takeoff clearance was denied well past midnight, the Blaugrana officially confirmed that the squad had to spend the night in the Andalusian capital, losing crucial hours of sleep and recovery ahead of a very important week.

Hansi Flick’s men are gearing up for their biggest test of the season so far against PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday, followed by El Clasico at the weekend, and hence the delayed travel schedule robs the squad of essential rest.

It remains to be seen how this will affect their readiness for both fixtures, especially as the Champions League clash with PSG comes in just two days.

Barcelona in great form ahead of vital Champions League clash with PSG

The 5-2 victory over Real Betis on Saturday means that Barcelona maintain their 100% start to the 2026-27 campaign. The Catalan giants have now won each of their 11 games across all competitions since the campaign kicked off, recording an unbelievable 48 goals and conceding 11 in the process.

As it stands, Hansi Flick’s men lead the race for the La Liga title this season, sitting at the summit of the table with 27 points after nine games – five points above second-placed Atletico Madrid and nine above bitter rivals Real Madrid who currently have a game in hand.

Should the Blaugrana come out victorious in the Clasico this weekend, they can technically knock Los Blancos out of the title race. Before then, however, Flick and his men will be looking forward to earning a high-profile triumph over Luis Enrique’s ruthless PSG side in the Champions League in midweek.

The Parisians are also firing on all cylinders at the moment. They beat Strasbourg 3-1 in Ligue 1 at the weekend and have now won each of their last six games across all fronts, making it a perfect time to face Barcelona.
