“Disrespectful to a Country That Made Him Rich Beyond His Wildest Dreams”: NBA Fans Fed Up With LeBron James Over National Anthem Antics

LeBron James is at the center of attention once again after his Sixers debut on Tuesday. The four-time NBA champion became a topic of discussion after he practiced his golf swing while the national anthem was being performed during the pregame activities in the 76ers’ 106-100 win over the Knicks.

Outkick founder Clay Travis shared the video of James from the pregame activities on X, flooding the comments section.

“Incredibly disrespectful. SMH. Disrespectful to a country that has made him rich beyond his wildest dreams. 🤦🏻🤷‍♂️,” one fan said.

“This is one of the many reasons why Michael Jordan is the GOAT and it will never be close,” another fan said.

“90 seconds, LeBron. Stand still for 90 seconds. It’s the national anthem, not a line at the DMV, and this country is the reason you’re a billionaire,” another fan commented.

More reactions followed:

“Nobody has been more toxic for sports than you,” one fan commented.

“Biggest dirtbag in professional sports since Latrell Sprewell,” another fan commented.

“He’s classless, unpatriotic, and uncouth. Proof that money can’t buy any of that. Pure trash,” another fan said.

James had a good showing in his first game in the Sixers colors. He finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists on 5-for-13 shooting.

“I can be a lot better”: LeBron James shares his thoughts on the Sixers’ opening night win

LeBron James entered his 24th season with the Sixers’ opening-night win over the defending champions. After the game, the four-time NBA champion shared his thoughts on his and the Sixers’ performance.

“I can be a lot better. Still getting my rhythm,” he said. “Obviously, just a little over two weeks with the new squad. I like the way we played; I thought we played well, especially defensively.”

Sixers coach Nick Nurse praised the budding connection between James and Jaylen Brown.

“You see that both of their work ethics are A-plus,” he said. “Without them even saying anything, who they are and how they go about things automatically gives you some pop.”

“They’re both very serious about winning, both very serious about their preparation, and they both understand the game and do use their voices and help their teammates do things out there.”

James will next suit up for the Sixers on Thursday as his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, visit the Xfinity Mobile Arena.
