Competing With Themselves: “WWE Will Actually Have Three Shows Going Against Blood & Guts”

The competition between AEW and WWE is fierce. The Tony Khan-led company will host Blood and Guts 2026 on Wednesday, November 4. Interestingly, WWE might run a show on the same date.

WON’s Dave Meltzer recently revealed that WWE may air NXT on Wednesday, during Blood and Guts week, instead of Thursday. The sports entertainment juggernaut could do this to avoid being preempted for election coverage. NXT, Evolve, and Main Event will potentially compete with All Elite Wrestling’s upcoming TV special. Meltzer believes that World Wrestling Entertainment will compete with itself on three levels.

“I don’t know this 100%. I was told by people who know that CW wants to move NXT to that Wednesday. It probably will be moved because if it’s on Tuesday, it’ll be preempted on far too many stations. That’s the night of Blood and Guts. AEW has the two Blood and Guts matches they set up tonight that are going to be pretty wild. I don’t know that AEW knows any of this right now, but obviously they will in five minutes,” he said.

He continued,

“NXT is going to have to shoot a big angle on Halloween Havoc because it’s a tough situation. WWE will actually have three shows going against Blood and Guts. They’re going to have NXT, which isn’t 100% but is probable, the Evolve show, and the Main Event show, all at the same time. They’re competing with themselves on three levels, and they’re competing with one of AEW’s signature shows of the year on their own night.”

Tony Khan says that former WWE chairman Vince McMahon inspired the Blood and Guts name

In a recent interview with Yahoo Finance, Tony Khan revealed the origin of Blood and Guts. He said that Vince McMahon inspired them to keep this name after he addressed the Jacksonville-based company as ‘blood and guts guys’.

“The name actually comes from taking something and twisting it around because Vince McMahon, on an investor call, said, ‘We’re not like those blood and guts guys. At that point, I said, ‘We have to use that. They have to use that. That’s such a great quote.’ So Vince actually named it,” he said.

Hopefully, Blood and Guts 2026 will be a memorable show.
