Cam Skattebo saw his teammate and fellow running back Najee Harris get cut by the New York Giants. Speaking with the media on Friday, the former Arizona State star shared his thoughts on the decision.
Skattebo admitted that nobody’s job is safe if they fail to perform on the field. He also said that the same could happen to him if he doesn’t improve his game and correct his mistakes.
Thanks for the submission!
“I mean, nobody’s safe, that’s as simple as that,” Skattebo said. “When we go on the field and we go perform, if we’re not performing, we understand there’s a possibility of not being here.

“If I don’t perform, I know there’s a possibility of me not being here. We came in this week, we continue to work, we know where we’re at, we know what we have. And if we put that to display, we’re gonna be just fine.”

Last Sunday, John Harbaugh and his team suffered a 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints. In that game, Cam Skattebo recorded zero stats and was benched after his fumbling issues this season. Najee Harris was named the starter for that game. But he could muster just two rushing yards on four attempts.
After the game, Harris explained how it was hard to get into a rhythm without consistent carries. On Tuesday, John Harbaugh and the Giants decided to release him despite signing him to a one-year, $1.22 million contract in August. They now have three running backs on the roster: Cam Skattebo, Devin Singletary and Tyrone Tracy Jr.
Cam Skattebo discusses his fumbling issues after Week 6 benching against the Saints
During Friday’s presser, Cam Skattebo did not shy away from discussing his struggles with ball security. The running back made a costly fumble during their 27-27 overtime tie with the Commanders in Week 5. This contributed to him playing just six snaps against the Saints last Sunday.
Skattebo admitted that he needs to do a better job of taking care of the ball.
“I’m going to go with what coaches are teaching us, what’s taught, what’s the best way to secure the ball, the best way to hold it. At the end of the day, I’ve got to take care of the ball. However that has to happen, I’ve got to do it. I’ve done it my whole life and it’s as simple as that. Take care of the ball, and you’ll be just fine.”
The Giants next face the Houston Texans this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
