WNBA analyst and Author of “Caitlin Clark: From the Logo,” Robin Lundberg called out a fan for comparing Cooper Flagg to Clark after the Mavericks forward scored 29 points in a 113-109 win over the Miami Heat on Monday.
The fan reposted a Flagg highlight reel on X and compared it to Clark’s massive popularity.
“The most hyped American basketball prospect since LeBron James is doing this at 19 years old. And he’s white. How does he not have a Caitlin Clark-type following? Lol,” the fan questioned.
Lundberg reposted the fan’s post with a blunt response:
“Because NBA fans don’t give a s*** about this and Caitlin Clark isn’t popular because she’s white but rather because of how she plays,” he wrote.
Clark and Flagg shared many similarities before entering their respective drafts. Both were superstars at the college level despite not winning an NCAA championship. Both were drafted first overall and went on to win the Rookie of the Year award.
However, they have very different play styles. Flagg is an athletic forward who thrives in driving and using his athleticism to split defenses. Clark, on the other hand, is a sharpshooter and elite passer who thrives at the 3-point line and at setting up her teammates.
Cooper Flagg Once Named Caitlin Clark to His WNBA Mount Rushmore
Flagg named Clark to his WNBA Mount Rushmore during his introductory press conference in June 2025. The Mavs forward was asked to name his Mount Rushmore in both the NBA and the WNBA.
He named Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant in his NBA list before explaining his choice to name Clark.
“Candace Parker, Brittney Griner, I think A’ja Wilson is on there, and then I might put Caitlin Clark on there,” he said. “Just because she has changed the game so much, and is heading in the right direction. And I just love what she has been able to do.”
Clark ended her third season in the WNBA with her second All-WNBA First Team nod. She had a good run, leading the Fever to sixth place in the standings and clinching a playoff spot. However, her season ended in a 1-2 first-round exit in the playoffs at the hands of the Las Vegas Aces.
