Probably Stolen is a challenging shop simulator where you try to make a living off scavenged or even stolen goods in a cyberpunk setting. Given the game’s dystopian roots, water is no doubt one of the most sought-after commodities that customers will be after. As such, having pure water is quite important for making a lucrative trade.
Unfortunately, the process is as tricky as it might seem, especially if you are looking to trade pure water. Here is a detailed guide on how to get it done in Probably Stolen.

How to purify water in Probably Stolen

It is best to use a large container, like a 6L jug, to measure a large quantity at once and ensure minimal strip wastage. You can also use the AquaScan water scanner to check the contaminants in the water. Getting 99.9% or greater water quality is key to obtaining pure water in Probably Stolen. Moisture Farms are a decent way to get water, which can then be purified.
Once you have the water, add it to a pitcher and pass it through cotton fabric to remove impurities, followed by a water filter and a UV lamp. Add the water to a Water Purifier, and you should get 99.9%+ water quality. Pure water is now ready to be sold.
How to trade water in Probably Stolen
The Water Merchant starting perk is the easiest way to begin with trading water in Probably Stolen. Most of the time, the water you will buy from others will be mislabeled. So it is up to you to be thorough and check just how impure the water is using the water scanner, then relabel the water.
At a glance, water testing will have you convert low-quality water, such as ghostwater (96-98%) or basewater (98-99%), into high-quality water (99.0-99.9%), which is the minimum required quality for drinkable water to be absolutely safe. This can be easily done by the following steps:
- Add a water purification pill to a bottle of water.
- Add a water filter to a pitcher.
- Pour the bottled water into the pitcher with a filter.
- Repackage the pitcher water into another container to be traded.
In case you still find that you are unable to make high-quality water, ensure that you have softened the water using purification pills or UV lamps. If the quality level is still not enough, perhaps try diluting it with high-quality water to increase the purity percentage.
Once you have ample stores of high-quality water, such as a full 6L jug of high-quality water, the buyers will start pouring in. This is also affected by store appearance value and total display value, so ensure those are high enough too for max profit.
