A new development has unfolded in the ongoing saga involving Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), her shady family, and the federal investigation that could result in her imprisonment or deportation.
As TGP readers know, Omar has long been dogged by allegations that she married her second husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, as part of a scheme to get him U.S. citizenship. Many sources have alleged that Elmi is Omar’s brother.
This has now become part of the sprawling federal investigation into Omar’s immigration fraud actions.
Omar previously said, “Not to my knowledge,” when asked whether she was related to her former husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.
Now, news has emerged regarding Elmi that, at a minimum, further proves that his marriage to Omar was a complete sham.
Elmi, who is a doctoral researcher at the University of Bristol, revealed that he was gay in an August 2026 academic paper that was uncovered by the New York Post on Thursday.
“As a gay man of the East African diaspora, my fieldwork was never neutral,” Elmi wrote in an August 2026 paper titled, “Out in the Field: Notes on Researching Queer Violence in Kenya.”
“It was a space shaped by tension, risk, intimacy, and vulnerability,” he added. “While navigating the challenges of ethnographic research, I immersed myself in the lived experiences of the people I spoke with, while also negotiating my own safety and the complexities of my identity.”
As previously revealed, Elmi’s areas of study are some of the most woke fields imaginable, including: “critically queer,” “decolonization,” “gender research group,” and “center for black humanities.”
TGP’s Jim Hoft reported last week that Elmi was likely gay. A TGP source in the Somaliland and Somali community sent information back in 2019 alleging that his sexuality was an open secret among Somali people in the diaspora.
Moreover, Elmi’s Instagram is filled with pictures of him in fashionable clothing and surrounded by men in high-end cafes. In his profile, he refers to himself as “a dirty dandy.”
He also appears to be interested in traveling. In one post, he wrote, “So far, so fab…a month in JoBurg.”
Homosexuality is illegal in Somalia. In some areas that Islamist terrorists control, the penalty for same-sex activities is often death.
Assuming this is true, there is a good chance Omar knew as well. This also could make the federal case against her even more powerful.
