Adam Fantilli and the Columbus Blue Jackets have yet to agree to a new contract. While many hoped a resolution would be reached and Fantilli would eventually report to the Blue Jackets’ training camp, the chances of that happening are extremely slim, according to a new report.
On X, The Athletic’s Aaron Portzline wrote that there isn’t much hope for an 11th-hour contract settlement that would allow Fantilli to report to the Blue Jackets’ training camp, which begins on Wednesday. Portzline also reported that the Blue Jackets’ first on-ice session will take place on Thursday.
“Doesn’t sound like there’s much hope for an 11th hour contract settlement that would allow #CBJ Adam Fantilli to report to Blue Jackets’ training camp on time Wednesday. Two sides still far apart and no action as of 9 p.m. See what the morning brings. First on-ice is Thursday,” Portzline wrote.

Adam Fantilli was one of the Columbus Blue Jackets’ best players on the ice last season. In 82 appearances during the regular season, Fantilli recorded 59 points (24 goals, 35 assists). At 21, Fantilli is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in the National Hockey League.

Adam Fantilli and the Columbus Blue Jackets have been working on a new deal throughout the offseason. While Fantilli and the Blue Jackets haven’t been able to reach a deal yet, an NHL Insider recently revealed the behind-the-scenes details and financials of the negotiations.
NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun mentioned that there have been offers and counteroffers throughout the summer. LeBrun also revealed that Fantilli and the Columbus Blue Jackets are 2 to 3 million apart on an average annual value.
“There have been offers and counter-offers throughout the summer; they’re 2 to 3 million apart on an AAV,” LeBrun mentioned.
Wednesday, September 16, will be an important day, and Blue Jackets fans will hope Fantilli and the team find a resolution so the player reports to training camp.
