AEW star particulars Aleister Black’s affect on her character change

One of AEW’s most promising up-and-comers spoke at some length recently about how WWE’s Aleister Black had helped her shape her new persona in the Tony Khan-led company. The star in question, Julia Hart, is currently one-third of The Triangle of Madness.

The Minnesota-native began making appearances in AEW since 2021, and was initially aligned with the duo of Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison, The Varsity Blondes. Her early cheerleader-inspired character began to undergo a tonal shift, however, after Malakai Black sprayed his black mist into her eye towards the end of the year. The angle culminated in Julia joining forces with The House of Black at Double or Nothing 2022, and afterwards playing a new darker character in keeping with the style of the faction.

During a recent interview with ITR Wrestling, Hart offered her insight into how she transitioned from her initial babyface gimmick into The House of Black’s Dark Princess. She also opened up on how she had help from Malakai (currently Aleister) Black, Buddy Matthews and Brody King in developing her current persona until AEW head honcho Tony Khan finally brought their vision to life.

“I wanted to be a cheerleader because I was a cheerleader in real life in high school and I had no other character ideas. It was just kind of that. We were then put in a program with Malakai [Black] and I was like I want to be on TV more and I wanted to ask like ‘How can I make this a story and he was fully on board with me and worked with me and helped me and Brody [King] and Buddy [Matthews] helped as well. And then Tony [Khan] brought it to life. It was just trying to figure out how can I get out of this loop and get to the next level.” – said Hart. [H/T- ITR Wrestling]

Julia Hart on the difference between House of Black and Triangle of Madness:“I feel like when I was in House of Black I felt more like a student, watching them and I wanted to learn from them. But now in the Triangle of Madness, in an all-girls group, it feels more like a sisterhood and that we have each other’s back. Now, say if Kris Statlander is beating me up… Brody can’t go. He can’t go get Kris Statlander because that would not be okay. But now with the sisterhood we have developed, like Thekla’s got my back, Skye’s got my back, and vice versa, it’s a little bit different. I’m not so much a student anymore, I’m starting to pave my own way. I’m a little bit older, I got my girls with me, so that’s where I think the shift is.”(via @ITRWrestling_)

Julia Hart on her relationship with an AEW fan-favorite

In another recent interview with Fightful, Julia Hart was asked about her bond with her former stable-mate Brody King, whom she was often paired with on All Elite Wrestling TV. The ex-TBS Champion voiced her pride in the powerhouse, spoke about them living close to each other, meeting with his family, and what being mentored by him has meant to her.

“I’m so proud of him. It’s just so cool seeing where we both came from. I remember one of our first conversations when we were talking about where we lived. And we found out that we lived 10 minutes away from each other and we’re like, ‘oh.’ Meeting his wife was amazing, we’ve become really close, and his kids are just so cute and fun, they gotta be the most coolest kids on the block. Being under his wing has meant a lot to me and he’s helped me tremendously.”
