AG Todd Blanche was on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream to talk about his role in keeping Americans safe by enforcing the law and pursuing criminals.
Bream showed a clip of President Trump on Friday praising AG Blanche and said that “he’s got a shot at being the greatest ever, if he remains tough and strong.”
“You know, this is what critics say. You were his personal attorney. You guys have been through the trenches and a lot of things, but now you are the Attorney General, so how will you break with the President if you see things legally, differently, than he does?” Bream asked.
“The President loves disagreement. He wants to get counsel from all of his leaders. That is just that. Counsel. It doesn’t mean you are just saying yes to him,” Blanche commented.
“He and I share the exact same goals for this country. When it comes to the Department of Justice, it’s restoring the rule of law to this country, combating crime,” Blanche continued.
“That’s what we saw. We were in Long Island together celebrating, really, and we have a lot more work to do, but celebrating the most historic drop in violent crime since they started keeping the stat,” Blanche explained.
“We have a lot of good things happening at the Department of Justice and I’m excited to really get going over the next several months and continuing to do the job,” Blanche said.
“And you feel like you will be able to tell him no if your legal analysis disagrees with where he wants you to go?” Bream asked.
“I think he would expect me to tell him no. It’s not whether I feel like I could,” Blanche commented.
AG Blanche explained that one of President Trump’s top priorities is enforcing the law and making sure that Americans are being kept safe from criminals.
“He wants a Department of Justice. He wants law enforcement out there arresting bad guys, like we did in DC, like we’ve done in Memphis, where we are really cleaning up the streets and making our communities safe,” Blanche continued.
“He and I share the same vision for this country and if he and I have disagreements, or if there is something that he has questions about legally, it’s my job to talk to him about those issues, which I have done for many years, and I will continue to do,” Blanche continued.
