Aion 2 Vakron Sky Island information: Route, boss mechanics, and loot

The Vakron Sky Island Expedition in Aion 2 marks the start of everyone’s long journey to obtaining item-level 70 armor pieces. Players are going to be spending quite a lot of time here before they can move on to the next tier of progression. Vakron, like many other Expeditions in the game, consists of two side bosses and one primary, with recurring mechanics active throughout the entirety of the run in Conquest.

This article lists everything related to the Vakron Sky Island Expedition, focusing on the Conquest mode.

Typically, it is always recommended to run the Dungeon once on Exploration before trying your hand at Conquest. This way, you will be accustomed to the routes, as the map is similar between the two modes, with a few additional mechanics added to the Conquest version.

After the Dungeon starts, you will notice a debuff on yourself and your allies, which will start counting down every second. Once it reaches the max count, players who haven’t cleansed this debuff will be tangled in a root, taking DoT (damage over time) damage until they die or their ally clears the root.

To cleanse, simply walk over the glowing pillars with white orbs scattered around different corners of this Dungeon.

Once the first barrier goes away, head straight and take the path to the right. After a bit, you will need to glide down and walk for a few meters until you come across a crossroads. Here, take the right path that leads to higher ground.

Follow this higher ground path, and you will reach the first boss, Tiere.

After defeating Tiere, go to the South of your minimap and glide down. Walk straight for a bit, and you will find a pile of rocks blocking the way. Break this block, and then take the windstream to proceed.

The windstream should take you now to a floating island. Continue onwards, take the wind updrift to the next floating island, until you come across another barrier. Defeat the Stone Odyle Spirit here to deactivate the barrier.

From the barrier, glide over to the opposite cliff, make your way up to the second updraft, immediately followed by a windstream. Taking this stream will take you to the second boss arena, Thamon.

From the second boss, jump down to the west of the minimap, towards the Kibelisk located below.

Progress further towards a second barrier leading to a large cave, and deactivate the barrier.

Next, you will notice red lasers flowing within this cave area. Your task is to fly to the other side while avoiding these lasers and collecting certain elements.

After taking the element, deposit it in the corresponding podium to open the way to the final boss arena. There are four podiums for four elements, all of which can be found within the flying zone.

All Boss mechanics in Vakron Sky Island of Aion 2

Tiere:

Tiere will start the fight by launching a poison ball at everyone, which is a debuff that can drain everyone’s health if the debuff carriers stand next to each other.

At 75% HP, the boss will teleport to the middle of the arena and poison almost the entirety of the arena, while keeping a small portion near it untouched. You will notice the boss saying, “Don’t touch those flowers, unless you wish to be poisoned.”

This attack is immediately followed up by a poison barrage on every single player, leaving lingering DoT damage on the ground where the poison landed.

To cleanse the poison cloud debuff from before, have every player in your party stack with each other near a flower that the boss spawns right before the poison mechanic. Once cleansed, you can direct the barrages to stack together, leaving a small portion of an area safe to stand on, and damage the boss.

Tiere’s other attacks involve jumping on the player furthest away from it, and then walking to random players twice while stomping the ground.

Tiere’s another attack is on its back, slamming the ground twice on two sides. This is usually followed up by two line prompts on the ground and can be avoided by dodging out.

Following these patterns, defeat the boss to proceed to the next stage.

Thamon:

From 95% HP, the boss will enter either a red form or a purple form. In red form, it will consume physical attacks, healing in the process. In the purple form, it consumes magical attacks. Hence, avoid attacking the boss based on the color if you’re physical or magical. Thamon is safe to attack if it is green.

Thamon will launch small AoE (area of effect) attacks on players, forming a circular prompt on the ground. Getting caught in these attacks will cause the player to get petrified and immediately lead Thamon to do an AoE-wide attack. This attack only deals a significant amount of damage to the petrified player. The petrified player can, however, be freed if they are hit by their allies.

Occasionally, the boss will strike a pose, like the one in the image below, signaling that it is trying to grab a player. Once it grabs a player, it will then slam them into the ground, dealing almost one-shot damage to a DPS and more than half health to a tank.

You can avoid this attack by performing a perfect dodge, forcing Thamon to fall on its face.

Thamon will also launch AOE-wide attacks in front of it, in a fan shape. However, this attack is avoidable if players stand in the middle of the line prompts on the ground.

Thamon’s other attacks include punching the player closest to it and smashing the player closest to it with both of its hands.

Keep track of these attacks, avoid getting petrified, and defeat the boss to move on to the next.

Vakron final boss: All wipe mechanics and things to know

Let us go over Vakron’s primary mechanics and the wipe mechanics first. When you hear the voice line “Accursed ones, those thorns shall imprison you,” any party member will have a circular prompt under them, followed by a damaging root that entangles them. This is when every other party member should attack the root to free the player.

If other players stay within this circle, the debuff will be switched to them. Hence, the player with the debuff and the circular prompt should go away from their allies to avoid getting them caught.

Vakron’s other wipe mechanic comes at 65% and 35% HP, called Surging Thorn, where the entire arena will glow red with a prompt. Your task is to put some distance between you and the boss, and jump over three incoming attacks, followed by a large AoE attack on the ground.

Vakron’s third wipe mechanic activates when it shouts, “You who have incurred the wrath of the Spirits shall be bound eternally.” Next, the boss will pull every player close, forming a rock prison and trapping everyone inside. You and your allies have five seconds to locate a red-glowing stone, break it, and get outside. Failing to do so will wipe out anyone inside the prison.

Vakron’s other attacks include a surge of projectiles when it points both its hands at the sky. These projectiles can leave a lingering DoT pool on the ground. Furthermore, the boss occasionally summons huge branches on both sides of the arena in a straight line, and an AOE-wide straight-line attack that launches in all directions around the arena.

Vakron’s last set of attacks includes a circular AOE near its body, and at a distance from it, forming a donut shape. This attack is accompanied by smaller circular AOE prompts that can imprison anyone caught in them with DoT roots.

Item level recommendation:

Vakron Sky Island is recommended at 1400 Gear Score/Item level, both at Exploration and at Conquest. Although it is safe to attempt Exploration at 1400, we recommend attempting Conquest at a minimum of 1600 Item Level and 75k Combat Power.
