AJ Styles delivered good news to a budding WWE star and independent wrestling standout. The star, who’s had only two dark matches in WWE, has received a WWE ID contract.
The star in question is Conan Lycan, who was backstage with Nathan Frazer on the latest episode of WWE Evolve. The promising indie talent will continue his matches outside the company despite being under the WWE ID designation. Lycan appeared at WWE’s SummerSlam tryouts earlier this summer.
Thanks for the submission!
“Yeah, you know what? Because of this guy (Nathan Frazer). He reached out to me, so I reached out to you. You did unbelievable. So WWE is offering you a WWE ID contract. We want you to be one of us,” said AJ Styles
Conan debuted in late 2018 and has worked across multiple independent promotions. He gained major exposure through multiple TNA Xplosion matches in 2024. Ahead of the October 6 taping of WWE NXT, Lycan defeated Marcus Mathers in a dark match. Even a month earlier, in a dark match on the September 8 edition of NXT, he faced Brooks Jensen under the ring name Mariano.
AJ Styles came to the aid of his son
AJ Styles ended his 246-day absence from in-ring action with a surprise appearance at Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment. The veteran star stepped in to rescue his son, Avery Styles, who was being beaten down after a match by multiple wrestlers.
AJ charged into the squared circle, took down the attackers, and attempted a Styles Clash before the remaining opponents fled.
Following his final match against Gunther at the Royal Rumble on January 31, 2026, Styles was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and transitioned into talent scouting and coaching roles.
