Let’s take a closer look at what difficulty settings in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment change and how you can adjust these settings during your playthrough:

  • Easy: Designed for players who want to focus on story progression and combat flow with minimal resistance. Enemies deal low damage, and their Weak Point Gauges deplete quickly.
  • Normal: The standard setting that offers balanced gameplay where enemies hit harder than on Easy, but still leave room for recovery and experimentation.
  • Hard: Ideal for players familiar with the game’s mechanics. Enemies have more HP, deal more damage, and require more precise attacks to shatter their Weak Point Gauges.
  • Very hard: The toughest mode available. Enemies are far more aggressive, deal massive damage, turning every skirmish into a real test of skill.

At higher difficulties, not only does enemy HP scale up, but your window to land Weak Point Smashes becomes shorter. This means you’ll need tighter combos, faster dodges, and smarter use of special attacks to survive tougher missions.

Do higher difficulties give better rewards?

No, difficulty does not affect your rewards in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment. If you clear a mission on Easy or Very Hard, the base rewards will remain the same.

So we recommend picking the difficulty according to your choice. If you’re aiming for story progression or farming items, Easy or Normal will save you time. If you want to test your combat mastery and push your builds to their limits, Hard and Very Hard are where the game truly shines.
