Alyssa Thomas is endangering Thomas

Longtime sports analyst Jason Whitlock chimed in on the recent WNBA controversy involving All-Stars Caitlin Clark and Alyssa Thomas.

During the second quarter of Wednesday’s game between the Indiana Fever and the Phoenix Mercury, Thomas and Clark scrambled for a loose ball. In the play, the Mercury star’s fist made contact with the Fever star’s neck and throat area.

On Friday, Whitlock shared the X post of Natasha Howard, who posted a bible verse. While Howard did not specify her tweet’s intent, many social media users believe that it is about the incident involving Thomas and Clark.

“Do not go about spreading slander among your people. ‘Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life. I am the Lord.’ Leviticus 19:16 NIV,” Howard tweeted.

Whitlock labeled the viral incident “exaggerated.” While he believed that Thomas made a dirty play, he said that Clark’s fans had magnified the clash.

“This is the convo being had in WNBA circles,” Whitlock wrote. “The argument is the exaggerated, hyperbolic conversation about Alyssa Thomas is endangering Thomas. You might not like it, but it’s a legit convo. I don’t like Thomas. But her actions against Clark have been greatly exaggerated.”

Howard spent the 2025 WNBA season with Indiana, starting all 44 games she played. In April, the three-time champion signed a two-year, $1.4 million contract with the Minnesota Lynx.

Jason Whitlock claims Caitlin Clark will suffer consequences for the much-publicized incident with Alyssa Thomas

In another tweet on Friday, veteran analyst Jason Whitlock speculated that Caitlin Clark will be criticized for the “exaggeration” surrounding incident with Alyssa Thomas.

“In the next week or two, the blowback from the Alyssa Thomas hyperbole is going to crush Caitlin Clark,” Whitlock said. “She is going to get blamed for the exaggeration of Alyssa Thomas’ hand to neck. Caitlin actually handled Thomas quite well. The Caitlin Cult and the click-grifters did not. It’s going to damage Caitlin.

“The LGBTQ are going to be outspoken about the harassment headed Thomas’ direction. The players within the WNBA know Thomas’ actions toward Clark have been greatly exaggerated. She’s Deebo and tries to bully and intimidate everyone, regardless of color.”

On Wednesday, the WNBA said that Thomas had been assessed a flagrant 2 foul for the “reckless” contact with Clark. The six-time All-Star was also suspended for one game, which she will serve on Saturday against the Toronto Tempo.

On the flip side, Fever coach Stephanie White said Friday that Clark will miss Saturday’s game against the LA Sparks due to a back injury.
