
Alyssa Thompson scored on a blast to the upper right corner of the goal in the 86th minute as Angel City ended an eight-match winless run with a 1-0 victory over the visiting Orlando Pride on Thursday.
Thompson eluded a defender while entering the penalty area before taking a shot with her right foot that was slightly deflected by a Pride defender. The goal was the sixth of the season for Thompson.
Angel City (5-7-5, 20 points) went 0-5-3 following their 2-0 victory over the Utah Royals on May 9.
Hannah Seabert made two saves to earn her first win for Angel City. She made her debut with the club on Friday against the Royals in a 0-0 draw. Angel City have allowed 27 goals, tied for the third most in the NWSL, but they now have consecutive shutouts.
The defending champion Pride were held without a goal for the second consecutive contest after a 0-0 draw on the road Saturday against the Kansas City Current.
Anna Moorhouse had six saves for the Pride (8-5-4, 28 points), who dropped into third place after the scoreless draw over the weekend.
The Pride are 0-2-3 since June 20.
Orlando won the first meeting between the teams 3-2 at home on April 25 after trailing 2-0 at halftime.
