Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has been busy in the WNBA offseason. Reese has made the most of her time to engage in other activities while basketball is out of commission. On Tuesday, it was announced by Netflix that the former LSU forward will join the cast of the drama/thriller “The Hunting Wives.”
The show, which had eight episodes in the first season, ended in July 2025. The WNBA star was cast as the show gets ready for its second season. The streaming service announced the casting direction on X. According to the update, Reese will play the role of “Trainer Barbie.”
“Bayou Barbie ➡️ Trainer Barbie,” Netflix posted. “Angel Reese joins the cast of The Hunting Wives in the co-starring role of “Trainer Barbie” 👀 Season 2 is now in production!”
Angel Webb Reese, the mother of the Sky forward, expressed her feelings on X.
“Booked & Busy !!! 🏀👗🎬” Reese’s mother posted.
The second season is reportedly expected to be released this year. Fans can watch Reese in the second season with stars Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, Evan Jonigkeit and Katie Lowes.
Reese is a fan of the show and even gave the creator, Rebecca Cutter, a shoutout on X by asking for a role for the second season.
“just let me know if you need me for season 2 😉” Reese replied to Cutter.
Fans react to Angel Reese getting cast on the Netflix show
Angel Reese isn’t letting opportunities pass and has taken on a new challenge as an actor. After the announcement, fans were surprised and revealed their thoughts on the Sky forward’s career move.
“Wow, this is fantastic news – Angel Reese as Trainer Barbie!” a fan showed excitement.
“trainer barbie sounds like a fun twist on the series curious to see her role,” another fan commented.
“I can’t wait to yet again support yet another thing this phenomenal young woman does!” one fan said.
Other fans weren’t as excited for Reese.
“She’s doing everything but practicing her layups,” someone commented.
“Will the ratings be lower than the WNBA?” a comment read.
“She sucks as a basketball player but good for her hope she does well,” one fan commented.
This won’t be the first time Angel Reese’s acting skills will be tested. Kathryn Bigelow’s 2025 film “A House of Dynamite” featured the WNBA star. Reese had a minor cameo in the movie opposite Golden Globe winner Idris Elba.
Her performance in the second season of the Netflix series has fans thrilled.
