Atalanta are reportedly planning to offer Ederson a new deal after his move to Manchester United fell through. The Brazilian was close to joining the Red Devils, but they have since pulled out due to a medical issue.
According to a report by Fabrizio Romano, Atalanta have no issue in keeping their star midfielder, who has just one year left on his current deal. They still see him as a key part of the club’s future and are delighted with the Manchester United transfer collapsing.
Thanks for the submission!
The Red Devils had a deal in place before the FIFA World Cup, but Carlo Ancelotti called up the midfielder after an injury to Wesley ruled him out just days before the tournament kicked off. The Premier League side were forced to take help from the Brazilian medical staff for his medical, and the Old Trafford side detected an issue.
Romano spoke about the transfer falling through and said:
“Now we can say that Atalanta received a formal communication about the Ederson deal being off. So Ederson to Man Utd is NOT happening. The communication has reached Atalanta today, the message coming from Atalanta is very clear. The message coming from Atalanta is they got a communication that the deal for Ederson is off, it’s not happening. But Atalanta also insist that according to them, Ederson is 100 per cent fit, ready to play football, as he was with Brazil at the World Cup.”
“Atalanta are now more than happy to welcome Ederson back, to have the player at the club. One year left on his contract, so that’s a point. But at the same time, Atalanta are convinced Ederson is fit, ready to play football, and doesn’t have any big medical or physical problem. On the other side, Man Utd wanted to do extra medical checks on the player and they decided after several sessions of medical tests that Ederson’s transfer has to be called off. So the Ederson transfer is not happening.”
Manchester United saw him as the idea replacement for Casemiro, who has left the club.
Manchester United have already moved on from Ederson
Manchester United have agreed a deal with Chelsea for Andrey Santos, since the Ederson deal fell through. The Red devils are paying £48 million plus another £2 million in add-ons for the Brazilian star.
Michael Carrick’s side are still in the market and have been linked with France’s FIFA World Cup star, Manu Kone.
