Banned soccer star receives one other setback after being banned from CS2 FACEIT

CS2 is once again in the spotlight, this time due to an unexpected controversy involving a professional footballer. Chelsea FC winger Mykhailo Mudryk is already dealing with serious issues in his football career, and now he is facing backlash after receiving a ban on FACEIT. The incident was discovered after one of the players shared the in-game chat screenshots on social media.

On that note, here’s everything you need to know about Mykhailo Mudryk’s ban in Counter-Strike 2.

Why Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk got banned from CS2 FACEIT?

According to reports, Mudryk received a one-month ban from FACEIT after being flagged for toxic behavior. He was accused of directing abusive messages toward Polish players during a match, including references to historical events that are considered sensitive.

The account was linked to Mudryk through profile details showing United Kingdom as the location, connections to other Ukrainian footballers, and past CS2 clips previously shared by the footballer himself.

Some of the messages reportedly referenced Volhynia, a region that is associated with the massacres of Polish people during World War 2. One of the Polish players posted the in-game chat screenshots, which were later reviewed by FACEIT and resulted in a 28-day ban.

After the issue escalated, Mudryk gave a statement to Tribuna, where he stated that while he appreciates the Poles who genuinely support Ukrainians, he often finds toxic teammates on Counter-Strike 2. According to Mudryk, he has seen his friends insulted without any reason and claims that some players use phrases like “glory to Russia” to provoke them.

The FACEIT ban comes on top of the Chelsea winger’s provisional suspension from football, which began in December 2024 after he was tested positive for doping.

That’s everything you need to know about the FACEIT situation involving Mykhailo Mudryk. For now, the footballer finds himself facing consequences in both sports and esports.
