Getting the right armor at the early stages of Crimson Desert can greatly increase the overall survival rate and gameplay experience. Most early armor pieces focuses on stamina regen, mobility, and basic defense that help you settle in and get used to the game’s combat systems.

While some sets and pieces focus on agility, allowing you to dodge faster, others are built for pure defense. Then there are unique pieces that increase your stealth capability and also grant elemental damage resistance.

In this guide, we will provide you with some of the best early-game armors you can get and how you can get them in Crimson Desert.

Best early-game armors to get in Crimson Desert

If you want a decent set of gear right at the start of the game, here are two sets you can easily get in the starting town in Crimson Desert.

1) Canta Set

Location: Rhett’s Equipment Shop, Hernand City.

2) Bolton Set

Location: Contribution Shop, Hernand City.

3) Sunset Reed Set

Location:

  • Chest Armor: Echoing Waves Cave in the Mountain of Frozen Souls.
  • Cloak: Locked behind metal bars just south of Castlewood Ruins.
  • Gloves: Reward for beating the Reed Devil boss in Chapter 3.
  • Boots: Sanctum of Absolution, hidden trap wall outside the ruins.

4) Blackwing Leather Armor set

  • Chest Armor: Reward for defeating the Crowcaller boss in Chapter 5.
  • Helm: Also drops after defeating the Crowcaller boss.
  • Gloves: Hidden chamber under the floor in Sanctum of Penitence.
  • Cloak: Hidden chest behind a wooden shed in Pororin Village.
  • Boots: Hidden room up on the tower adjacent to the House of Healing.

5) Frostcursed Armor set

  • Chest Armor: Hidden chest behind the waterfall in Misthard Cave in Demeniss.
  • Helm: Hidden room inside the Chattering Rocks (south) near the Sanctum of Expiation.
  • Gloves: Hidden inside the Lunar Spirit Grotto, which is located in the northern regions of Demeniss (follow the Denn River to find the spot).
  • Cloak: Located in a hidden section of the Sanctum of Expiation.
  • Boots: Hidden inside the Well of Tragedy cave along the Denn River just north of Demeniss.

Best-in-slot armor pieces for the early to mid game in Crimson Desert

1) Blackwing Leather Armor

The armor is dropped by the Crowcaller in Chapter 5 and is by far the most customizable chest armor you can get early in the game. The armor comes with decent defense and movement speed buffs, along with Level 1 Lightning Resistance. But the best thing it offers is 3x Abyss Core Sockets.

2) Leather Helm of the Fallen Kingdom

Overall, this helm offers some of the best base stats in Crimson Desert’s early game. The Leather Helm of the Fallen Kingdom can be found in the Sanctum of Benediction in Hernand. The helm comes with a built-in loaded Momentum Abyss Core, which gives Kill a 35% additional Turning Slash damage bonus.

3) Sunset Reed Gloves

The gloves can be acquired after defeating the Reed Devil in Chapter 3. They give a decent stat boost to your attack, movement, and lightning resistance. Note that they also come with a new skill called the Slashing Reed, which dramatically increases Kliff’s aggressive capability.

4) Odeck’s Protector Plate Boots

Odeck’s Protector Plate Boots can be acquired from a treasure chest at the Sanctum of Temperance. The boots increase the attack stat by 16 and come with two Abyss Core Slots that offer additional damage mitigation and movement speed, perfect for tanky gameplay.

5) Blackwing Leather Boots

The Blackwing Boots increase attack speed by 10, while giving Kliff increased Critical Rate and Lightning Resistance. The boots also drop with two additional Abyss Core slots that increase both movement speed and stamina regen. So if you are looking for an agility build, use this instead.

6) Blackwing Leather Cloak

The Blackwing Leather Cloak offers Lightning Resistance Level 1 while looking exceptionally stylish. So if you are collecting the Blackwing set, getting this cloak early on is fairly beneficial.

7) Plate Cloak of the Shadows

The Plate Cloak of the Shadows can be looted from a hidden room in the Hoenmark Ruins in Hernand. The cloak offers the best stats early in the game, along with high Fire Resistance capability.
