The Men in Blue thus became the first side to win back-to-back titles. They are also the first host nation to clinch the trophy. Further, with their third title triumph, they have also become the most successful team in the history of the competition.
Sent into bat by the Black Caps in a one-sided final, India posted a massive total of 255-5 on the board in their 20 overs. The top three batters all hammered half-centuries, while Shivam Dube (26* off 8) provided the finishes touches yet again. In the chase, New Zealand never got going and were bowled for 159 in 19 overs.

Top-order: Sanju Samson (wk), Tim Seifert and Aiden Markram

Seifert formed a dangerous partnership with Finn Allen at the top of the order and was one the major reasons behind New Zealand making it to the final of the tournament.
Captain Aiden Markram would be gutted that South Africa fell short of T20 World Cup glory yet again. As a batter, though, he was in prime form in the competition. In eight innings, he contributed 286 runs at an average of 47.66 and a strike rate of 165.31, with the aid of three half-centuries.
Middle-order & All-rounders: Suryakumar Yadav (c), Hardik Pandya, Will Jacks and Sikandar Raza
Suryakumar Yadav did not have a great T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with the bat. However, he was terrific as leader, especially with his tactical changes in crunch situations. With the ball, he stepped up during crucial situations, including the high-scoring semifinal against England.
England’s Will Jacks had an outstanding T20 World Cup 2026 campaign. The all-rounder won four Player of the Match awards, consistently chipping in with vital runs and key wickets. In eight innings, Jacks scored 226 runs at a strike rate of 176.56. With his off-spin, he claimed nine wickets, averaging 21.66.
Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza played an important role in his team’s progress to the Super 8 round of the T20 World Cup 2026. He was consistent with the bat, smashing 206 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 164.80. With the off-spin, Raza chipped in with five wickets.
Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Shadley van Schalkwyk, Lungi Ngidi and Adil Rashid
Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah was outstanding yet again as the Men in Blue defended their T20 World Cup title. Almost every time India were in trouble in the field, Suryakumar went to Bumrah and the lead pacer delivered. If not for his sensational bowling, India would have lost the semifinal to England. Bumrah was the Player of the Match for his exceptional figures of 4-15 in the final.
USA’s Shadley van Schalkwyk is a surprise name on the list. He finished as the joint-second leading wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup 2026 despite his team being eliminated in the group stage. In four innings, he claimed 13 wickets at an average of 7.76 and an economy rate of 6.80. Van Schalkwyk registered identical figures of 4-25 against India and Pakistan.
South Africa’s seasoned pacer Lungi Ngidi made life difficult for batters with his canny variations in pace. In seven innings, the Proteas pacer claimed 12 wickets at an average of 15.58 and an economy rate of 7.19. He was exceptional in the Super 8 win against India, conceding only 15 runs in his four overs.
Veteran England leg-spinner Adil Rashid had another impactful T20 World Cup 2026 campaign. In eight innings, he picked up 13 wickets at an average of 19.23 and an economy rate of 8.15. Barring England’s first match against Nepal, he was among the wickets in every game.
