Bianca Andreescu vs Eva Vedder preview

Bianca Andreescu will take on Eva Vedder in the first qualifying round of the US Open 2026.
Andreescu opted to forego a trip to Australia at the start of the season and instead grinded it out on the ITF circuit. Her efforts proved fruitful and she won a couple of titles. However, she lost in the first round of the ATX Open and the Indian Wells Open upon her return to the main tour.
Andreescu then made the final of the WTA 125 in Austin, and bowed out in the second round of the Miami Open qualifiers. A second-round showing at the Italian Open was her best result on clay, and she lost in the second round of the French Open qualifiers. She qualified for Wimbledon after that but lost in the first round to Zhang Shuai. She recently lost in the first round of the Canadian Open and the first qualifying round of the Cincinnati Open.
Vedder has mostly stuck to the ITF Tour this year, and has captured two titles from four finals so far. As far as the main tour is concerned, she lost in the qualifying rounds of the Australian Open, the Charleston Open, and the Hamburg Open.

Bianca Andreescu vs Eva Vedder prediction

Andreescu won her maiden Major title at the US Open during her breakout season in 2019. She even beat 23-time Major champion Serena Williams in the final. However, recurring injuries soon took a toll on her health, and she hasn’t been able to recapture that old mojo. She has a 26-15 record this year, and has a 15-6 record on hardcourts.
Vedder lost in the first qualifying round of the US Open on her first trip to New York last year. She has a 31-15 record this season, with a 5-1 record on hardcourts. She has mostly competed on clay this year.
Vedder led Andreescu by a set when they crossed paths for the first time at the Libema Open a couple of years ago. However, the Canadian staged a comeback to win the match. Andreescu has competed in Grand Slam qualifiers for over a year now, and hasn’t lost in the first round so far. She will be favored to maintain that streak against Vedder, especially in light of the latter’s record on hardcourts this year.
Pick: Bianca Andreescu to win in three sets.
