DiJonai Carrington dropped a bombshell on Sunday acussing her former partner NaLyssa Smith of cheating. The forward made the allegation after the WNBA All-Star weekend and earned a response from Smith, who addressed the claims during a livestream.
A fan shared a snippet from Smith’s livestream on X (formerly Twitter), as the Aces center addressed the accusations.
“Whether she cheated on me or I cheated on her, why are we bringing this to the internet a year later? especially when you’re in a healthy, happy relationship,” Smith said.
Smith’s response turned heads, with many fans supporting her, believing Carrington didn’t need to speak on the subject a year later.
“Big facts,” a fan wrote.
Others, however, sided with Carrington, arguing she had every right to address the situation despite the time that had passed.
Although opinions remained divided over Smith’s remarks, her comments stemmed from Carrington’s accusations. The forward claimed Smith had cheated on her with a couple of WNBA players, name-dropping them in a post on Threads.
“Since Mfs wanna be funny today ima be hilarious! yes , NaLyssa cheated on me with Deja Kelly and Aaliyah Nye +++ many more,” Carrington wrote.
The post quickly gained traction online, leading Smith to criticize Carrington for revisiting events from a year ago, particularly while in a new relationship.
According to multiple reports, Carrington is currently dating Smith’s Las Vegas Aces teammate Jackie Young, with the relationship reportedly beginning earlier this year.

DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith were once viewed as one of the biggest power couples in the WNBA. The duo’s relationship started from their time together at Baylor University and continued to flourish in the league, despite suiting up for opposing teams.
The pair were reunited on the Dallas Wings last season following Smith’s trade to the franchise. However, reports of a breakup surfaced just months later before Carrington and Smith were traded to the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces, respectively.
A few weeks after the split, Carrington confirmed she was single and urged fans to delete social media accounts dedicated to her relationship with Smith.
“Oh & @ any nail*ssa-esque pages , you might as well rebrand or deactivate ts cuz that will NEVER be again,” Carrington wrote. “But my sincerest thank you for your love & support during that permanently closed chapter! 🫶🏽 with love, dijonai/management. ☺️💕✨.”
While the reasons behind their split were under wraps for over a year, on Sunday Carrington revealed the pair broke up due to Smith cheating on her.
