Big replace on 3-time champion’s AEW return

A former AEW champion has been out of action for a long time. New details have come to light regarding his absence.

When Wardlow first arrived in AEW, he caught everybody’s attention due to his sheer size and agility in the ring. For a guy his size, he was able to move around like a cruiserweight. After breaking his alliance with MJF, it looked like Tony Khan would finally strap a rocket to him. For a while, this appeared to be the case when he won the TNT Championship three times. However, injuries have proven to be a huge bottleneck for his career. Mr. Mayhem suffered an injury during his match against Samoa Joe on the 13th March 2024 episode of Dynamite. This sidelined him for several months. He made his return at Forbidden Door last year and attacked Swerve Strickland. He had also aligned himself with the Don Callis Family. Following this, it was reported that the former TNT champion injured himself again during his return and would be out of action for the foreseeable future.

During a recent Fightful Select Q&A Session, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about which wrestler between Eddie Kingston, Jay White, Wardlow, or Kamille fans could see next. The veteran journalist replied, “Eddie Kingston.” He also reported that he hadn’t heard much about Jay White, and Wardlow is still recovering, even though he was at Revolution and is promoting American Gladiators. He further reported that the Jacksonville-based promotion has no interest in using Kamille since she has only wrestled two matches since she was taken off TV.

AEW star Wardlow issued a statement after appearing on American Gladiators

In 2024, Wardlow appeared on American Gladiators. This show began airing recently and has found some success. Therefore, Mr. Mayhem issued a statement about his appearance on the show.

The AEW star took to Instagram to post some behind-the-scenes photos from the show with the following caption:

“Well closing the weekend with #AmericanGladiators trending at #8 on top 10 shows! Let’s get it to that #1 spot! Thank you to everyone that watched and for all the love I’ve been receiving. Means the world. What did yall think of the first three episodes!? More coming next Friday on @primevideo 🐺💪🏽🇺🇸 Here’s a little bts from one of my favorite photo shoots ever!” he wrote.

It remains to be seen when Wardlow will return to the ring.
