Billy Horschel will undergo right hip surgery next week and miss months of PGA Tour competition, he announced Tuesday.

In a statement posted to X, Horschel offered a timeline that would force him to miss the three remaining major tournaments of 2025. He said he decided to have the surgery, which will be performed in Colorado, after consultation with medical experts and his team.

“It’s an unfortunate situation with so many great events left on the calendar but this is a preventative measure,” he said. “I’m already itching to start rehab, get back to practicing and I look forward to returning to the course sometime around late summer/early fall.”

An eight-time PGA Tour champion, his most recent win came in April 2024 at the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic.

Horschel, 38, has played in 12 events in 2025, missing the cut in five of them, including the Masters Tournament. His best finish came with a T4 in March at the Valspar Championship, one of his two top-10 finishes this season.

He last played at the RBC Heritage in late April, finishing T27.

Horschel is ranked No. 24 in the world golf rankings and No. 58 in the FedEx Cup standings.

This spring, he was part of the Atlanta Drive GC team that won the inaugural championship of the tech-driven TGL.
