WWE has one of the strongest tag team divisions across all three brands. Tonight on NXT, the brand’s General Manager, Robert Stone, announced that he will be bringing back a major tournament on NXT. It is the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
The tag team division has been somewhat chaotic in NXT. The current tag team champions, the Vanity Project, have challengers coming out from all directions. Dark State, Birthright, and the Creed Brothers from WWE RAW are gunning for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Thus, Robert Stone has decided to bring back the infamous Dusty Classic to determine the next No.1 contenders for the tag team championships. The last time the tournament took place was back in 2024. The winners of the tournament were the team of Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker. The duo also went on to win the tag team championships.

Out of the five winners of the past Dusty Classic Tournament, three teams have gone on to win the tag titles.
This year, the tournament has a unique addition. Usually, the tournament mainly features teams from NXT. But this time around, the tournament will feature teams from WWE RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and also from AAA.
The tournament will begin next week. The match brackets will be revealed later this week.
