“Now thinking about it, it’s lowkey crazy the Giants unretired a dude’s jersey for someone who won’t get a second contract with the team.”

“When this man gets healthy, the league will remember he’s the best in the world. Phewie! I can’t wait.”

Corbin Fowler remarked:

“Ready for the bounce back. Missed a year worth of highlights. Can’t wait to see him back on the field.”

Linus Henry Ekene commented:

“You can see the growth every season, and if this is the version we’re getting now, defenders better be ready.”

What is Malik Nabers’ status ahead of the 2026 season?

Malik Nabers’ status for the start of the 2026 season is one of the biggest questions facing the New York Giants. The former first-round pick is recovering from a torn ACL and meniscus suffered last September. The injury ended his season after just four games.

The wide receiver underwent a cleanup procedure earlier this offseason to remove scar tissue and address stiffness in his injured knee. However, Giants general manager Joe Schoen expressed optimism that Nabers’ recovery is trending in the right direction. He added that he expects him to be available for the Week 1 clash with the Dallas Cowboys.

“I still think he’ll be fine Week 1,” Schoen said earlier this week. “So we’ll see. He’s trending in the right direction. Again, these things take time, so it’s not instant. Every patient is different.”

John Harbaugh has also put Malik Nabers’ recovery progress at 70-80%, despite not participating in the OTAs and minicamp.

“He’s making really good progress right now,” Harbaugh said. “I’m very hopeful that he’ll be back soon… I wasn’t less optimistic before. Like I said, it’s a slog. It’s a grind. He’s probably maybe 70% through. I don’t know, something like that. 80% through.”

Nevertheless, the Giants have invested in their receivers’ room as insurance against Malik Nabers’ absence. They signed Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin III, Odell Beckham Jr., JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Braxton Berrios.
