Browns, Jaguars Wearing Throwback Uniforms While Lions, Packers, Seahawks Breaking Out Alternates – SportsLogos.Net News

While the last few weekends have been rather tame with most teams wearing their standard home and road uniforms, Week 15 of the 2024-25 NFL season features a significant increase in the number of teams wearing alternate or throwback uniforms.

That includes the Jacksonville Jaguars wearing their “Prowler” throwback uniforms for the second this season when they host the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon. Jacksonville debuted the throwback uniforms in a 37-34 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 6.

The uniforms feature a black helmet with the Jaguars’ original logo on the sides, teal jerseys with white numbers outlined in gold and black and a full-bodied jaguar logo on the sleeves and white pants with a with a teal, gold and black striping pattern, matching what the franchise wore from 1998-2007.

The Cleveland Browns will also wear their 1946 throwback uniforms, which are complete with their alternate helmets and classic drop shadow numbers, for the second time this season when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Browns are 2-2 in this uniform combination, which debuted last season with the introduction of the white helmets, including a 20-16 loss at the Las Vegas Raiders on Sept. 29. They were also initially scheduled to wear them during their 41-32 loss to the Denver Broncos on Dec. 2, but changed to their standard road look at the last minute.

The Carolina Panthers, meanwhile, will wear their white road jerseys and pants at home, forcing the Dallas Cowboys to break out their navy blue jerseys and alternate silver pants for the first time this season – though they wore the navy blue jerseys over white pants in a 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions on Oct. 13.

The Panthers have worn white at home twice this season, including a 26-3 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 15 and a 34-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 29. The former featured the team in Process blue socks and the latter in black socks, just like Sunday’s matchup.

The Arizona Cardinals will also wear white at home for the first time this season when they host the New England Patriots, who will wear silver pants with their navy blue home jerseys for the fourth time this season, bringing to mind their 2004 matchup in the desert.

The Patriots have seen an increased usage in silver pants this season, even wearing them with their white road jerseys in two games this season. That was a combination that had not been worn since the 1999 season, when it was actually their standard road look.

Elsewhere, the Lions will wear their black alternate jerseys and pants for the second time this season when they host the Buffalo Bills in a potential Super Bowl LIX preview, though both teams would be in their standard home and road uniforms if they ultimately make it that far.

The black uniforms, which were a reward from head coach Dan Campbell after the Lions won their division for the first time in 30 years, feature a Honolulu blue helmet with black and silver decals and a black facemask, debuted in a 42-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 30.

Lastly, Sunday night’s matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks will feature both teams in an alternate design, as the Packers will wear their white alternate helmets with their all-white Color Rush uniforms and the Seahawks will don their Action green Color Rush set.

The Packers debuted their white alternate helmets in a 24-22 win over the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 20, while the Seahawks are 5-2 in Action green jerseys and pants since they debuted in 2016, as well as 3-1 when the Action green jerseys are paired with their navy pants.

The weekend will wrap up with the Minnesota Vikings debuting their new “Winter Warrior” alternate uniforms when they host the Chicago Bears in one of two Monday Night Football games. We’ll have a separate post dedicated to that uniform matchup that afternoon.
