More recently, as Alexander Zverev gears up to compete at the National Bank Open, he spoke about his rivalry with Jannik Sinner this season, telling media,
“We’ve faced each other more often than any other players this season. Losing multiple times to the same opponent is obviously not positive, but it also shows that we’ve probably been the two most consistent players on the circuit this year. And that’s a positive point.”
Reacting to the comparison the German drew between himself and the World No.1, one fan on X wrote,
“Lol…there we go, the guy’s won a Challenger and he can’t even keep his feet on the ground anymore. He won a cut-rate Challenger, a tournament that looked more like an ATP 250. And he’s talking like he’s at the same table as the all-time greats.”

After claiming a runners-up finish at the Wimbledon Championships in July, Alexander Zverev is now scheduled to kick off his hard court season at the National Bank Open. The German enters the Masters 1000 event as the top seed and a front-runner for the win in the absence of players like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
Zverev has been handed a bye for his opening round match in Montreal, and he will follow up on this with a clash against Lorenzo Sonego or Tallon Griekspoor. The German will then likely run into Matteo Arnaldi, with a clash against Francisco Cerundolo or Ugo Humbert looming in the round of 16.
Alexander Zverev’s quarterfinals encounter at the National Bank Open could see him go up against longtime rival Taylor Fritz, followed by a possible clash against Daniil Medvedev, Ben Shelton or Casper Ruud in the semifinals.
