Former Manchester United star Paul Parker has asked the Red Devils to replace one player who isn’t good enough for their starting eleven.
Manchester United finished third in the Premier League last season despite a subpar start under former coach Ruben Amorim. Halfway through the season, the club decided to appoint Michael Carrick as the interim coach. Under his tutelage, the Red Devils secured a place in the UEFA Champions League this season.

While discussing his former club in an interview with Betarades.gr, Paul Parker asked Manchester United to get rid of Luke Shaw from their starting eleven. He claimed that if Patrick Dorgu is set to be used as a winger, as Michael Carrick has done throughout pre-season, then the club must sign another left-back.
He added that Shaw isn’t good enough as he can’t attack or defend. He said (via Football365):
“The club seriously needs a new left back because Luke Shaw isn’t good enough. They really need a mobile fullback with agility who can defend properly as well and a player who can do a job up and down the pitch.
“Luke Shaw can’t run and he can’t defend or attack, so what do you need him for? Dalot is always going to be an issue when he plays as well, especially if they play him on the left back.”
Despite criticism from Parker, Shaw had a great 2025-26 season. He started all 38 games for Manchester United in the Premier League, playing a key role in helping them secure UCL qualification.
The club are reportedly looking at signing Newcastle star Lewis Hall to provide competition to the veteran English full-back.

In the same interview, Parker claimed academy star Harry Amass could be an option to replace Luke Shaw in the Manchester United starting XI. He added that fans of Sheffield Wednesday were thrilled with his performances out on loan and deserved a chance in the Red Devils setup. He said:
“I saw Harry Amass play a couple of games for Sheffield Wednesday and up until the injury all the Wednesday fans were completely raving about him.
“Absolutely raving about him, so maybe it is time to give him the opportunity? The club should be better at introducing young players like him and give them a run. In my opinion, he needs a run, not just a couple of games.”
