Former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas has responded when asked if he’d like to be Manchester United‘s next manager ahead of his current team, Como’s UEFA Champions League clash against the Red Devils.

Manchester United have had a poor start to the 2026-27 season under Michael Carrick. Having won only one game apiece in the Premier League and UCL, Carrick’s future as the head coach has come into the limelight.

One of the many managers linked with a possible switch to Old Trafford is Cesc Fabregas. He has been a revelation at Como in his first stint as a senior manager. He has been able to muster 48 wins in 106 games as the Serie A club’s manager. He also holds the distinction of becoming the first manager to take Como to the UEFA Champions League.

Speaking in a presser ahead of their clash against Manchester United, Fabregas was asked if he’d be interested in taking a job at the Red Devils if offered one. He said (via Tyrone Marshall on X):

“I won’t answer that question because I think that’s not a very nice question. I don’t think that shows enough respect to a great footballer and manager like Michael Carrick at the helm of a wonderful Manchester United side.”

After a good start to their UCL campaign with a comfortable win over UCL newcomers Sabah, the Red Devils suffered defeat at the hands of Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. They will look to bounce back from the loss as they take on Fabregas’ Como tomorrow (October 21st).

Michael Carrick will hope things turn around quickly as the Manchester-based side are currently 6 games without a win in all competitions. Carrick’s position as head coach will come under the scanner if the Red Devils continue their unwanted winless streak.

Como head coach Cesc Fabregas gives his take on facing Manchester United in the UCL

Speaking in the same presser, Fabregas claimed it’s a dream come true for him and his side to take on the Red Devils in the UCL. He said (via Centredevils on X):

“They are a great team. Just three years ago, when we were in Serie B, it would have been unthinkable that Manchester United might come to the Sinigaglia [stadium] yet on Wednesday, that is exactly what will happen. For us, it’s a dream come true; we’ll take our chances.”
