DHS Chief Kristi Noem on Tuesday evening said the New Jersey Democrat lawmakers involved in the violent altercation at the Newark ICE facility last Friday committed felonies.

“We had members of congress assaulting law enforcement officers. They were cooperating with criminals to create criminal acts and then they are saying that they were providing oversight. This wasn’t oversight, this was committing felonies,” Noem told Fox News host Jesse Watters.

Alina Habba, the US Attorney for the District of New Jersey, announced her office has launched a federal investigation into the violent altercation between Congressional Democrats and ICE agents at the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark on Friday.

“My office is undertaking a thorough investigation in coordination with our Federal Agency partners of what transpired on Friday at Delaney Hall. As is true of every investigation this office handles, all available evidence will be thoroughly reviewed prior to making a determination on how to proceed. I do not take these matters lightly,” Alina Habba said on Monday.

Noem’s comments come after Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries threatened retaliation against Department of Homeland Security agents if they arrest Democrat lawmakers for storming the Newark ICE facility and assaulting agents.

Jeffries threatened federal agents.

“They’ll find out. They’ll find out. They’ll find out. It’s a red line. They know better than to go down that road. There are clear lines that they dare not cross,” Jeffries said.
