According to new reports, Charles Leclerc has been approached by the likes of Aston Martin and Red Bull, as the driver is seemingly weighing his future at Scuderia Ferrari. The Monegasque has been at Maranello since 2019 and is yet to even properly compete for a world championship.
There have been multiple rumors surrounding Leclerc and his future at Ferrari beyond 2026. While it is established that the driver loves the outfit and that it would take something extraordinary to get him out of there, it is still not an impossibility.
These rumors were extra strong in 2025 when Ferrari had a horrendous season with the SF-25, finishing fourth in the drivers’ standings by a huge margin. Things are seemingly much better this year, with the SF-26 looking to be much more competitive at the front of the field.
According to a report from Giuliano Duchessa for Autoracer.it has been claimed that Charles Leclerc has still been approached by Aston Martin‘s Lawrence Stroll in recent times. It also mentions that Leclerc declined this offer when he suspected that things were not quite right at the British team at the beginning of the new regulations era.
Duchessa also reflected on Leclerc’s relationship with Red Bull boss Laurent Mekies, who could be interested in making that move happen, based on what Max Verstappen’s future looks like at the team. But Ferrari has a superior package to Red Bull at the moment, making a move not logical, as things stand.
The report also goes on to highlight that Verstappen could well determine Leclerc’s future destination in F1, as the 28-year-old seems to be the second best option for any team that cannot get its hands on the 4x world champion. It is safe to say that a lot of driver decisions will be made based on how the pecking order evolves throughout the ongoing season and into 2027.
Charles Leclerc emphasizes the need for Ferrari power unit upgrades

Charles Leclerc emphasized the need for Ferrari to bring upgrades to its power unit as soon as possible to try and compete with the Mercedes package. He also claimed that the Italian team cannot bring any major updates to the next round, which is the Miami GP.
Speaking to the media following last week’s Japanese GP, Leclerc explained [via Formula 1]:
“I think taking a step back on these first three races, there’s a clear thing that we need to improve and this is surely the power unit. But we obviously cannot bring anything to Miami.”
“But there’s not only that, and in a year like this one everything is very new. I think the rate of improvements of every team is massive, so there’s a lot more than just the power unit. There’s putting the tyres in the right window, there’s the aero, there’s the chassis,”
Charles Leclerc then added that Ferrari will be working “flat out” to try and close the gap to Mercedes at the front of the field. He also alluded to trying to keep McLaren behind, following the British team’s much improved performance in Japan that saw Oscar Piastri finish P2.
