Angel Reese will make her home debut for the Atlanta Dream on Saturday against the Las Vegas Aces at the State Farm Arena. On Friday, the Dream’s X account revealed that the Arena had sold out before the game.
They shared a seven-second video of fans packing the State Farm Arena and waving their smartphones as flashlights. The video’s footer thanked the fan for selling out the arena.
“ATL, WE’RE SO BACK 🔥 Our State Farm home opener is officially SOLD OUT. Dream fans, we’ll see you this Sunday & make sure to grab tickets for the next time your Atlanta Dream play at State Farm Arena on 6/20 and 6/22,” Dream wrote in the post’s caption.
Fans flocked to the post’s comments section with their opinions on the sold-out matchup.
“I feel sorry for JC, Chennedy is going to do nasty things to her,” one fan said.
“The possibility of us losing is already upsetting me, but let’s stay positive,” another fan said.
“A’ja and Chennedy don’t run from me,” another fan commented.
Here are more reactions:
“17k ppl about to watch Aces put belt to that ssa,” one fan commented.
“The way ppl just love to hate anything Angel associated is crazy. Saying she is playing in a small arena so it isn’t hard to sell, is some hating ass shit. But also, folks don’t read, it says State Farm Arena NOT Gateway,” another fan said.
“But y’all said Mrs. Reese didn’t have motion,” another fan commented.
Saturday will be the first time that Angel Reese will play against her former teammate, Chennedy Carter. They were on the same team when Carter last played in the WNBA before signing with the Aces.
Angel Reese creates history in her Atlanta Dream debut
Angel Reese created history in her debut for the Atlanta Dream in a 91-90 win over the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday. The two-time All-Star finished with 11 points, 14 rebounds and two assists to become the fastest player in WNBA history to reach the 50 career double-double mark.
Reese accepted that her debut was not her best during a postgame interview.
“My experience has been great because we got a win,” she said. “It was rough for me tonight, but this is what you call a team. Being able to have players that have your back and always will pick you up, even when you’re not having the best game. Always in your ear, putting a lot of confidence into you.”
Angel Reese delivered the same level of performance in Dream’s 77-72 win over the Dallas Wings on Tuesday. She finished with 12 points, 16 rebounds and two assists.
